New Album & Tour: The Law Of Large Numbers - Out March 1st 2010
At long last I’m quite elated to be able to tell you of the completion of the second album. It is entitled ‘The Law Of Large Numbers’ for reasons that I’m not quite sure I even understand yet, but by the time anyone asks me I’ll be sure to have a convincing answer. Recorded at the Chemikal Underground studio Chem19 over the past year, and produced by Paul Savage, it’s a record that has been a lot of fun to make. Joining me in the studio were Jamie Savage, veteran of ‘Watch The Fireworks’, on keyboards and guitar, Graeme Smillie on bass and Jonny Scott on drums. Adem also makes a guest vocal appearance.
The tracks are:
Hug The Piano (And)
Hug The Harbour
I Could Be A Saint
Red Orange Green
Nine Lives
House On The Hill
Letters To Strangers
The Loop
Confessions
The Child In Me
Chemistry Will Find Me
Hug The Piano (Or)
The album will be released on Chemikal Underground and its various licensees around the world on 1st March 2010.
A couple of tracks from the new album can be previewed (preheard?) in the ‘Listen’ section at the top left of this page.
I will also be touring in March, co-headlining with Australian artist Josh Pyke at the following venues:
15 March Bristol Academy
16 March London Tabernacle
17 March Oxford Academy 2
18 March Norwich Arts Centre
19 March Glasgow King Tuts Wah Wah Hut
20 March York The Duchess
21 March Birmingham Hare & Hounds
22 March Manchester Academy 3

Please go to the following link to vote:
If successful, the single will get played on every daytime show next week.
If you haven’t heard the single yet, you can listen to it on said Voting Page or on the MySpace Page page.
I’m still trying to figure out how to add the single to the songs on this website but so far no luck. Need a tech head.

BBC Coverage: Celtic Connections Scottish Songbook
There’s now BBC televised coverage available of Saturday’s Celtic Connections Scottish Songbook gig here. It was a fantastic night, made all the more interesting by a new beverage discovery recommended by singer Inge Thomson – port and brandy in the same glass anyone?
All of the performances can be seen on the BBC Scotland website.
Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival 2009
After a fantastic Scottish Mental Health Foundation Festival last October, which I was happily asked to contribute to, I’m very excited to once again be involved this year.
Karine Polwart and I have put together a show on the 1st October to be held at The Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow as part of the festival’s Music Like A Vitamin events. As well as Karine and I playing our own solo sets, we’ll also be joined by Alasdair Roberts and James Yorkston, with James performing the songs of Daniel Johnston with Dublin’s Adrian Crowley, who incidentally, is releasing his next record on Chemikal Underground later this year. It’s looking like a pretty fabulous bill and I really hope many of you will be available to come along. Tickets will only be £5 so bring a coach load…
Rod Jones has also been busy putting together another Music Like A Vitamin night in Edinburgh and you can find details of both of these nights at the festival website.
