Happy New Year to you all and welcome to the new website.
10/01/06

Over the months to come I hope to keep this site updated with news, photos and any gigs that come up in the future. Depending on how busy / lazy / rude I find myself in the future I will try to keep it regularly updated.

Things are moving on with the album plans now and I got word at the beginning of the month from the guy who's going to be producing the record (Victor Van Vugt) can start February so I quickly moved into Panic Mode and started putting together a fairly ridiculous practice schedule for everyone involved. I've managed to rope in Campbell McNeil of Aereogramme to play bass, Jamie Savage (youngest brother of Paul) to play piano and Paul (former Delgado) to play drums. We've been playing together a lot recently and things are sounding really good.

Rehearsing for an album is usually no problem if that's all you're doing, but as Chem19 Studios is being rebuilt by Paul and Jamie every day just now they're both having to juggle that too. By the time we start recording this album the pair of them will be playing everything at half speed and falling asleep mid take.

The studio build is coming together now and by Feb we hope to have 2 studios up and running. I'll be posting some photos up shortly on this site of the progress and also on the studio's own site at www.chem19studios.co.uk.

As far as when the album is due to come out goes, we're probably looking at the summer at the earliest but again, time will tell.

I have started a mailing list, which I will be sending emails to periodically, so if you fancy joining please use the link on the home page to do so. There will be a free demo to be downloaded if you're kind / foolish enough to give me your email address. It's a version of the song 'Fortune' which I recorded with Jamie Savage on piano for the BBC2 Music Show, aired in November of last year.

Lastly but not least, current album on the stereo is 'Aerial' by Kate Bush and book on the bedside table is 'The Subtle Knife' by Philip Pullman. I read the first book of the Philip Pullman trilogy 'His Dark Materials' and it was terrific. You should check them both out. Kate Bush remains one of the most compelling artists out there and I can easily listen to her sing the number Pi over and over again on the second track of said album. Now there are not many people that can get away with that.

Cheers for now

Emma
